Silence

Silence isn't an admission of agreement. It isn't an admission of disagreement either.

Where and the when...

Time seems to be flying by. I cannot believe it is already the middle of June. Soon it will be July and I will be wondering where my summer has gone? Finally all of the ladies of the sheehy homestead are now done with school. This is the first official week of summer vacation for them. Summer vacation for me usually means, earlier mornings to work and later afternoons. I don't understand that concept, but I seem to work more when I don't have to rush home for the girls. We haven't been to the pool yet this year. It opened Memorial weekend and I don't know if there has been more than 1 or 2 nice days yet. I have considered praying for this "global warming" I hear about. If global warming means that June weather is really more like May weather, and September weather is really more like August weather, then I would be against that too. However, I don't believe that is the case.

We have refurnished part of the house recently. We have some new furniture in the den/office. It looks very cool and official den looking. We also got a new piece for the dining room. Cindy calls it a buffet. I am close to getting a new computer. A monster is being built for me. I wrestled with the Mac option, but I just don't see it. I still live in a PC world. This blog is all over the place, so I will wrap it up. I hope to mow today, so should be a great one. Enjoy the summer, if it ever shows up.

Hulk Loves May

May is one of my favorite months of the year. I think July is my favorite, followed by June and then August and September. May is probably my second favorite month. The weather is getting better, you get to mow grass and May is filled with my daughters birthdays as well as my anniversary. You throw in Memorial Day to boot and it is a packed fun month.

This May has been no different. We have gone non-stop through the month and now June is almost here. The weather has been decent and I've gotten 3 mows in already. We had a killer Hollywood Movie Night party, Chop's birthday, Memorial Day and KLo has her party this weekend. I wish every month was May. Maybe not quite as busy, but definitely the enthusiasm it brings out in me.

Hulk is Tired...

I've started referring to myself as Hulk. I will often say "Hulk Angry" or "Hulk Smash" in reference to my mood. Currently, Hulk is tired. Work has slowed down some and the buzz of my past few months is wore down, but I feel like I am not recovering. I probably have the Swine Flue.

Anyway, I have started running with Kaylor a few days a week. We are doing well with it. She is in Cross Country, so she is already in great shape and running is easy for her. Hulk on the other hand is still getting the hang of it. Today on the run home, we decided to break into a sprint. She got a quick lead, but I poured on the afterburners and caught her and actually started to pass her as we went into the driveway. That was until I ran her over. Yep, wiped out my daughter into the driveway. Scraped up her hands and scratched her ipod up. Worse off, it wasn't even our driveway. In my haste to cross the finish line aka our driveway before her, I ran into our neighbors driveway thinking it was ours. Meanwhile, Kaylor is still running straight knowing our driveway was still 100 ft away. I felt like crap. The sad part was, had I realized where I was, I may have outran her without knocking her over. Oh well, this makes us even for last week when she ran a faster pace and almost stopped my heart.

I Mowed Yesterday...and it was GOOD!

I love to mow. On my old blog I used to have a Lawnmower's Report of each time I mowed. The length of the grass, what I was listening to on my ipod, how many injuries I received, how many WOOOO's I let out and an overall experience rating. It was a lot of fun and my readers seemed to enjoy it. That is not what this blog is for though. I am just blogging today to share why I love mowing. When I mow, there are few distractions, it is just me, my riding mower, and my music. Occassionally God will pop in there and we'll chat a bit, but for the most part, I just mow. I will be the first to admit that I am a very unorthodox mower. My technique is not common, my finished product is rarely stellar and I get injured almost every week. (Usually just minor scrapes and cuts) Still, it is one of my greatest joys.

I have said I have no plans of Twittering, however, if I did, my Tweet would be, "I just kicked some grass!"

I Don't Get It...

How is it that I can religiously make my bed or make sure to charge my mobile phone faithfully, but I can't keep my office desk at work clean for more than a few days. Every 3-4 weeks I will go through my various piles and sort and sometimes even file, but yet within a week of a clear desk it returns. I am sure it is a simple organization issue, but I just don't get it. I have no desire to work in a mess, yet I don't take the time to correct it. Then if I do correct it, it returns to the previous state relaitively quickly. There was once and intervention planned for my office, but I got wind of it and sabotaged it by rearranging my office and cleaning it psychotically for 2 straight days. There are no 2 straight days of cleaning in my future, but it might be something I have to attempt once more.

Doug and the Destroyers

I've started playing music again. It has been a lot of fun. I have 2 concerts this weekend. The band is called Doug and the Destroyers, but it actually just me. I've put quite a gimmick on it. The first show on Friday I will actually have my good friend Matt playing percussion for me. It is funny because Matt has decided to sing with me. He has never sung before. He is doing a decent job and actually hits a few harmonies occasionally. I am not a great singer, so I have no room to speak. I also wrote a new song for Cindy that I will be performing at both of these shows. It is a fun little song and it was nice to write something like this. I don't know that I will perform again for a long time after this, but it is nice to know I can just pull the old guitar out every now and then and play a bit.

What the???

I have finished my run with MySpace. I have been there for a long time and have a ton of friends and readers there, but I just can't do it anymore. I don't know much about "blogger" or "blogspot" sites, but I guess this will be my outlet now. Don't expect much. I've had this site for a while now and barely view it. I hope to blog about real things here and not just - "I did this...then I did that...then I, then I..." That seems to be what I do best, blog about myself. Well, I wanted to prove this was real, so here it is. No more myspace for Doug, now its just the Dougspot.

A Year Later...

I admit it, I am not good at blogging HERE. I have blogged at MySpace for over 4 years faithfully and could probably publish a good toilet reading book out of it. I have been disappointed with MySpace for years, and more than ever am ready to bail on it. Facebook is not for me. Here are the Top 15 reasons I don't belong on Facebook:
1) Not cool enough
2) Too many people are on it
3) I have an addictive personality that would have me checking it 100 times a day
4) You can't do froofy backgrounds with it
5) I am Irish
6) I would rather Twitter or Tweet (and I don't want to do that either)
7) Tom from Myspace would get mad
8) I hate status updates
9) It is currently VERY trendy, maybe when it gets uncool again
10) I only poke my wife
11) I don't know if Facebook has as many great ads as Myspace
12) My blog just wouldn't be the same
13) My Crackberry hates Facebook (it told me so)
15) I'm not in college anymore

So, I will be back to blog here again in about 3 months. Actually it will be a few days from now and then 4 months.
